Ray, I understand your point. The thing that struck me ass odd, however, was not that you could get perfume or a mint, but the fact that you could get for example a Snickers bar. Somehow that doesn’t clean up your breath
But thank you for the explanation, next time I’ll know better.

Its a tip-oriented service… Remember, everyone in the US expects a tip. You get a spritz to go out and talk to the ladies while smelling sweet, you leave a tip… you get a mint to curb that extra onions you had during your lunch, you leave a tip… When I travel abroad (being from the US) I usually get strange looks for tipping when people in other countries usually expect that salary is the only compensation they are entitled to for doing a good job.

You can also get candy in the toilets at some bars and concert venues and other places in the Netherlands. Not being Dutch, I think it’s crazy.
