Getting Chairs

Microsoft seems to be a good place to work, judging by the way they manage chairs, or more accurately the way the employess manages their chairs.
Adam Barr writes about his Guest Chari:

…when I moved in to my newest office, I discovered in the hall…not just a guest chair…but a lobby chair! In the lobby of 44 they have these pretty nice upholstered chairs. Well, there was one sitting in the hall across from the bathrooms. Trust me, my practiced Microsoft eye could tell that the chair was lonely and abandoned and needed a home. It had had that look about it…you know that look that chairs get when they have no owner?

I kind of practiced the same thing in the beginning of last semster, in which I found a pretty nice chair, which is a hell of a lot better than the standard crappy office chairs we get from the University. I “borrowed” the chair, and used it for the rest of the semester, and continued to do so during this semester. However, a month ago some professor wanders by our group room, casually looks in, stops, and says: “Where did you get that chair?”. Followed by: “You must put it back!”
Damn! So I put it back :-( But now I’m stuck with the crappy chairs again. The kind of chair that’ll make your back sore, and generally make you fell unhappy. This sucks!

So project number 1 for next semester: find a decent chair somewhere, preferably one that’s lonely, AND keep the professors away from the group room.
