Another seminar with Microsoft

Posted in Misc, OldNewsOnZianet by Kristian Kristensen on the February 23rd, 2002

Fate has it that I’m going to another seminar with Microsoft. This time in Aalborg, but the topic is once again .NET.

There will be presentations on Visual Studio.NET and the use of XML and ADO.NET, plus sessions on Visual Basic.NET, and of course general presentations.
I’m really looking forward to it.

I’m attending the seminar with a colleague of mine, so that’s great.

Next weekend I’m going to LinuxForum with Gimpster, and that’ll be lots of fun. We’re going to stay in Copenhagen for the weekend, and attend the conference on Saturday.

Alot is going on at the moment, but I like it :-)

Btw. updated the ‘Validate this critter’ in the bottom to reflect XHTML strict, and I’ve updated the Books page.

Trip to Copenhagen with Microsoft

Posted in Misc, OldNewsOnZianet by Kristian Kristensen on the February 19th, 2002

Yesterday I was at a conference in Copenhagen with Microsoft. They drove us from Aalborg to Copenhagen, where there were three sessions, gave us food, and drove us back. And all for free!

The conference was about .NET their new technology framework, and the sessions were great! Don Box had come from LA for a tour in Europe speaking on .NET and was also the one speaking at the sessions I was at. He is one of the most interesting speakers I’ve ever heard. He had no slides at all, but rather coded some stuff in Emacs on Windows XP and talked from that.
After seeing and hearing Don Box I may have to change my mind about Microsoft. Maybe they’re not so bad after all. I mean, if a guy like him (with a background in Unix, Java, XML, and almost everything else) wants/can work for them maybe MS is okay afterall…

One thing is for sure: I’m going to look abit at that .NET thing, it sure looks interesting.

XHTML 1.0 Transitional (Strict)

Most of my pages are now comply with XHTML 1.0 Transitional, and you can check it by following this link to W3C’s validator and entering an URL of my site.
The pages that doesn’t comply are the guestbook stuff, but that’ll come eventually…

Ordered an ADSL line

Posted in Misc, OldNewsOnZianet by Kristian Kristensen on the February 2nd, 2002

I’ve just ordered an ADSL line, and did it out of two reasons:

  • GVDnet (my current ISP) suck!
  • I want to run my own server

So now I’m just waiting :-) It’ll probably take about a month or so before they come an install my DSL line.

When it’s up and runnning the server a bought a little while ago will be placed on the line so I can start playing around with a real and live web-server. That’ll be fun!

On the University side, I’m starting again on Monday where we’ll make the groups which we’ll write our project in for the next semester. I think I’m gonna write about collaboration in groups, and make a website that can support groups in their work.

And I’m going to LinuxForum 2002 with Gimpster on the 2nd of March. I’m really looking forward to it!
