Britney Spears… hmmm

Posted in Misc, OldNewsOnZianet by Kristian Kristensen on the February 26th, 2001

I think this calls for an explanation…

I watched a video of Britney’s on Viva (that’s a german musicchannel), something like “Don’t let me be the last to know…”, and thought “Heck, why not check out that gals homepage”. So I did.
I’s been a long since I’ve seen such a page. It is filled with pictures of her, the background image is of Britney in different positions (all nice and non-corny, that is).

I really remembered how much money “they” post in these kind of operations. Wow! I don’t know how many figures the Britney-Spears-Operation is, but I bet that it’s alot.

Besides that she’s not that ugly! That would definetely be an understatement.

Almost forgot, the address http://www.britneyspears.com, go check it out, there are pictures :-)

Damn it sucks!

I’ve used the last week coding for Net Image, which has been quite okay, had it not been because of the fact that the system I was making got changed all the time. And that the firm that are to use the system wants it in a specific way.
Basically it is bad solution-design, but it sucks anyway.

So I went home early today… mainly because I was tired but also because I couldn’t stand coding on that system anymore :-)

When I’m to start in school again this monday I’m really gonna need a vacation. That’s what happens when you work in your supposed vacation from school. But one gotta get money somehow.

Oh my god

It’s snowin’ again! Just wanted to share the good news :-)
Perhaps I’ll take some pictures of it… if it lasts…

Looking for a new computer

Posted in Misc, OldNewsOnZianet by Kristian Kristensen on the February 24th, 2001

I’m actively looking for a new computer. Today I looked more into the graphic card part, and I’ve decided that I want a Matrox Millenium DualHead G450 card. As the name suggests it can run in DualHead meaning you can connect to monitors to one card. Fortunately Matrox also makes drivers for Linux, so chances are that you’ll soon see some great Xinerama shots on my screenshots page :-)

What’s there to say?

Posted in Misc, OldNewsOnZianet by Kristian Kristensen on the February 20th, 2001

I must admit that I’m a bit surprised. Who would have thought that after working with a computer on a specific topic for 8 hours straight, one would still sit down and work at home?
Well, certainly not me. But nevertheless it’s a fact. Hell I’m writing news right now, am I not :-)

One of these days I’ve got to make some sort of news system. This page is getting extremely long, which however is a good thing, coz’ it means that I’m actually writing stuff.
One of these days, you’re gonna see some triple-gold-solution…. but you better go and make coffee first :-)

New feature

Posted in Misc, OldNewsOnZianet by Kristian Kristensen on the February 19th, 2001

I’ve added a little featute: namely the infamous screenshot feature. Today it seems that every geek with respect for (him|her)self has some sort of showing the world how their desktop looks like. Well, I’m not gonna stand in the dark, so here it is.
The Screenshots Page

Tired

Posted in Misc, OldNewsOnZianet by Kristian Kristensen on the February 19th, 2001

I’m so tired after working all day at the new place, Net Image.
But it’s certainly a lot better than going to school and make a sculpture in clay…

On the Desktop side I changed to WindowMaker today. Mainly because my system as described is so slooooow. So far the speed has improved, so I guess I’ll stic with wm for a while.

I found a computer at Multimedie Experten which was faily cheap, perhaps I’ll buy when the week is over and I probably have some more money.

A little piece…

Posted in Misc, OldNewsOnZianet by Kristian Kristensen on the February 16th, 2001

My computer is finally up and running again, although it’s slow as hell. More about that later, the story on how it went wrong needs telling first….

I got some RAM from a friend of mine and thought I could shove them in my machine givin it at total of stunning 48 mb RAM. So I did. And the computer ate it all, no problems. But after having booted linux and five minutes spend, it suddenly complained… alot. It broke down, I did ‘fsck’ and rebooted about 10 times, and finally it shut up. In the meantime ‘fsck’ had deleted and elsewhise destroyed my entire filesystem, leaving me only the scrubbels of a system once functioning.

So I got a new disk (naive as I was, I thought my disk had gone to heaven) and installed that with Linux… same result: A crashed filesystem.
It was now pretty clear that the problem was the RAM or at least something connected to the RAM, that was what I and gimpster decided, when we tore out the troublesome RAM.
So, once again I installed Linux and this time it went okay, and it has now run for at least a day :-)

One thing is your computer breaking down, a much worse thing is one being out of ability to read and write mail. Damn! I think back to the horrible four days without mail.

It’s funny how dependant you get of email, who would have thought of that a couple of years ago…?
I check my mail regularily (every two minutes), and I answer most mails within 24 hours. All of my business gets done over email. So not having it is not a pleasant thought.

Since my computer is up and running I might aswell dish it. I don’t know what happened, but since I installed it over again, it’s been so slooooow. I spend more time watching it swap than I use to get something done. Not nice at all. I’m seriously considering buying a new computer…. and maybe I will do so when this week is over.
As I wrote some time ago, I got at new job, and I start tomorrow (monday). Hopefully it will give me som $$ so I can get a faster computer, not a big one just one with a lot of RAM :-) I’ve got 256 MB SD-RAM lying on my shelve….. *grin*

Besides that, what has happened…. I installed VIM, and I know use it to edit my mail with. I seems like a nice editor for an emacs-kinda-guy like myself, and thanks to Tom Gilberts dotfiles I’ve got a nice configuration with colors and stuff :-)
I haven’t figured out how to do stuff in it except for saving and quitting, but I guess that will come. I better get a reference card….

I don’t want to write anymore, but that was a pretty bid wasn’t it?

Out of Business

Posted in Misc, OldNewsOnZianet by Kristian Kristensen on the February 15th, 2001

Just at small text bid to show you I’m still alive.

I got the flu and my computer broke down.. that’s enough to take a man out of business. At least me.
When I get the time (and when my computer is up and running again) I’ll fill you in on the horrible days of no computer.

In the mean time, read below, and punk azero!

Whenever you see this

Posted in Misc, OldNewsOnZianet by Kristian Kristensen on the February 12th, 2001

Because of my webcam Azero (my web provider) decided to close my ftp-account, so I can’t upload the news.
Hopefully they’ll approve me soon, so I can start uploading again… news that is :-)
